FAQs

We tried, but we know there are probably questions out there that we haven't answered!  On this page we will try to answer those we have anticipated may be on the tip of your tongue.  Please contact us if we don't answer your particular question.

How do you calculate shipping charges?

Unframed prints are mailed in a shipping tube in order to provide the best possible protection for the prints and yet keep the shipping charges in a reasonable range for you. Framed prints need to be packed very carefully and protected from normal shipping hazards, so the shipping cost is greater. Charges will depend on the geographical area to which the prints are being shipped. We have established a sliding scale which means that someone who orders two prints is not charged twice the shipping charge as for one print, etc. If you want special handling or faster delivery please always feel free to contact us at (207) 647-5567 or service@WinterfordNaturePhotography.com and we will do our best to meet your expectations.

Do you have a separate handling charge?

No, all our costs are included in the print price and shipping charges. There will be no surprise extra charge at the end of checkout!

I don't like to use credit cards online. Can I pay by check?

Yes, you can. Place your order by filling out and printing the order form and then send it, together with your check, to: Winterford Galleries 156 Main St. Bridgton, ME 04009

I ordered a framed print, but it arrived in a torn, waterlogged box. What do I do?

Unfortunately situations like this, though rare, do occur. If that happens to you please call us at (207) 647-5567 or e-mail us at service@WinterfordNaturePhotography.com and we will give you a Return Merchandise Authorization number and arrange for pickup. Please keep the original packing and documentation unless we tell you to throw it away. Returns will be processed within 5-7 days after receipt of the returned item. We will send you a replacement print at no extra charge.

Will you deliver a print direct to someone as a gift?

Yes, we will. If you would like us to ship a gift to someone direct just let us know and we will do so. We will also include a gift card with your message.

If I would prefer to send someone a gift card so they can choose their own print, can I do that?

Yes. We can issue gift cards in any amount, which would be redeemable online or in person at the gallery, frame and gift shop. If you order a gift card we will send it to you in one of our Paul Winterman notecards. If you choose to have it sent direct to the recipient we will include your message on that card.

Do you have a company gift program?

Yes, we do. We can help you decide on appropriate prints for any renovation work you are doing in your company offices, and we also have gift cards that you can use for your employee recognition program. Contact us direct for any special needs you have for your company programs. We can be contacted at (207) 647-5567 or by e-mail at service@WinterfordNaturePhotography.com.

Why does it take 4-6 weeks for delivery?

If you order an unframed print delivery time will probably be considerably less than four weeks. Framed prints, however, are individually framed and, where appropriate, individually signed by Paul Winterman. Because we take great care to ensure that the item you receive is of high quality, the time frame for your receiving the print is longer. Please contact us at (207) 647-5567 or service@WinterfordNaturePhotography.com. if you have a deadline by which you must receive your print and we will do everything possible to ensure that your deadline is met.

Can I get prints in sizes other than those listed?

Yes, just call us at (207) 647-5567 or e-mail us at service@WinterfordNaturePhotography.com and we can let you know if it is possible to get a print in the size you want. Please be aware, however, that prints may need to be cropped if you are looking for a size ratio different from that in the original, and that there are limits to how far one can enlarge a picture without adversely affecting the quality of the print. We will always tell you if the enlargement you are seeking is worth the cost because we will not sacrifice quality for size.

Can I choose my frame and matting or can I only order a print with your standard frame?

We want you to be happy with your purchase, so please feel free to contact us if you have a desire or need for a certain frame and/or mat board. We can be reached at (207) 647-5567 or by e-mail at service@WinterfordNaturePhotography.com. Although custom framing can be more expensive, we will always work with you to keep the work within your budget.

What IS your standard frame?

Paul Winterman prefers his work to be simply framed and without glass or plexiglass. We follow his preferences in this matter, and also frame prints unmatted because we believe that Paul has an unerring eye for framing his own shot; to add mat board to the work would be to diminish the impact on the observer. Our standard frame is an approximately one inch frame with a relatively flat profile in either black or honey oak, depending on the photograph. We mount the picture on heat-activated foam board which will keep the print in perfect condition for decades. Please call us at (207) 647-5567 or e-mail us at service@WinterfordNaturePhotography.com. if you would prefer a different frame choice.

I understand about your following Paul Winterman's preference for no glass or plexiglass in the frames, but I'm planning on hanging my new print in full sunlight. How can I protect it from UV rays?

We have available an excellent process for applying UV protectant film to the print which will provide as much protection from the effect of the sun's rays as UV glass or plexiglass. This has no observable effect on the print itself. If you would like your print protected by this process, or would prefer to have glass or plexiglass used in framing your picture, please contact us at (207) 647-5567 or service@WinterfordNaturePhotography.com and we will be happy to discuss the process and cost with you.

What if I order a framed print but decide I want to do something else with the room after its arrival?

Unfortunately, due to the work involved in framing and shipping each print we are not able to accept returns in these circumstances. If you have a reason for wanting a particular frame style in order to blend in with other decor please contact us at (207) 647-5567 or service@WinterfordNaturePhotography.com prior to ordering so that we can discuss custom framing options. Our goal is to ensure that everything you purchase on www.WinterfordNaturePhotography.com brings you joy for years to come, and we are happy to work with our customers on ensuring that such is the case.
